GET TO KNOW YOUR FOREST - Los Padres National Forest

 May 1st 2011
11:00am – 3:00pm

Join the Los Padres Forest Association for an afternoon of fun getting to know your Forest.  Check out the interactive booths that will demonstrate many forest activities.  There will be booths that will introduce you to the plants, animals, reptiles, and insects that live in our forest.  Also there will be people there that YOU want to meet, including the forest service, Smokey Bear, and volunteer groups presenting information about mountain biking, horseback riding, backpacking, camping and Chumash history.

There will be live demos of Forest Fire Trucks in action, mule packing techniques, backcountry cooking with Dutch ovens, and much, much more.  Learn precious tricks for how to lighten you backpacking load and make to your adventure more enjoyable.  There are many types of adventures to enjoy – short hikes with kids, long backpacking trips with friends; discover beautiful geology, waterfalls and fishing in your own backyard!  Also, learn about how to get involved with trail maintenance, mule packing, goat packing, trail surveys, and wilderness patrol activities in our local forest.

This event will be held at the Los Prietos Ranger Station.
From Highway 154 take Paradise Road 4 1/2 miles.
